Travel Insurance
- What are the choices of travel insurance policy
- Outbound Policy – When you travel outside of Thailand
You can choose between buying an annual policy if you are a frequent flyer, or a per trip policy which will cover you during for a single period of time abroad. - Inbound Policy – When you travel into Thailand – This can be done on a per trip basis only. If you plan to stay in Thailand for a longer duration, you should consider buying health insurance.

- What’s the maximum period of travel per one trip that I can buy?
- You can take up to 180 days each trip
- Can I buy travel insurance after I depart from Thailand?
- Unfortunately, for an outbound policy, you can’t buy travel insurance after leaving Thailand. Please plan ahead and contact our team in advance – we can have your travel policy ready within a few hours.
- Can I buy travel insurance after I arrive in Thailand?
- You can purchase inbound travel insurance within 3 days of your arrival. Please contact us for details.
- What if I am traveling between two countries, neither of which are Thailand. Can I still buy travel insurance?
- Yes, you can. We have it available for you. Please contact us for details.
- Is there an age limit to apply for travel insurance?
- We have plans for everyone. We have a policy that can cover newborns to people 85 years old.
- Will I be covered while playing sports, such as diving, skiing, etc.?
- Most travel insurance policies don’t cover sport such as scuba diving, skiing, or rafting, but we have specialized plans if you want to include sports cover.

First, let us know by e-mail or phone what type of claim you’d like to make and we’ll send you the claim form and a list of required documents. Then, after you send all related documents to us, we’ll check, follow up, and keep your claim on file, corresponding with the insurer to make sure your claim is justified.

- What does travel insurance cover?
- Travel Insurance covers medical costs while abroad as well as other risks like trip cancellation or delayed flights, personal liability, evacuation cost and lost or stolen luggage.
- What if I have a medical condition, can I buy travel insurance?
- Yes, you can still buy travel insurance while you currently have medical insurance. However, the policy doesn’t cover any medical expenses incurred from treatment of your current condition. Travel insurance will only cover medical expenses resulting from unforeseen conditions or emergencies.
- If I move to Thailand can I just use my annual travel insurance plan for unexpected medical bills
- Yes, but travel insurance policies typically only last 90 days per trip. After that, you will need to return to your home country and return to Thailand, or simply buy medical insurance in Thailand.
- If I am traveling from Thailand overseas doesn’t my credit card provide me with travel cover?
- That depends on the credit card company. Check with your company to see if they have such a policy.
- Why do I need travel insurance?
- In the event of serious illness or injury while abroad, travel insurance will cover any incurred medical expenses. Travel insurance can provide you peace of mind, knowing that you will be safe while abroad.
Health Insurance
- Are there many health insurance providers in Thailand? And which ones are popular among expats?
- There are actually less than 10 medical health insurance providers in Thailand. The popular ones are AXA, Bupa, Inter Global, Pacific Cross and Thai Health (by alphabet)
- What’s the waiting period before I can make a claim?
- The waiting period is normally 30 days after effective date for claim on medical cost from sickness. There is no waiting period on accidental claim.
- Do I need to take a medical examination?
- No, insurers don’t require a medical examination to cover you until the age of 65. If you are 65 or older, some insurers may ask for medical examination result.
- Do I have to pay for my medical cost first and then send the claim?
- Most of the time you don’t have to pay first. You’ll receive a health card that you can use at most private hospitals in Thailand. If your claim is not under policy exclusion, then you’ll only pay for the amount that is over your limit of cover. However, there are times when you have to pay first, like if the insurer needs to further investigate your claim, you receive treatment at hospitals that are not in the insurer’s network or if you leave Thailand.
- Will I be cover outside of Thailand.
- Yes, most insurers cover you outside of Thailand, some exclude the U.S.A. and Canada while others offer worldwide coverage. Whatever your need we have a policy to suit you.
- Is there a family discount? Or a Group Corporate Discount?
- Yes, some insurers offer a family discount and a Group Corporate Discount. Please contact us for a quote or more details.
- If I already have a health plan from my company, can I buy an additional policy?
- Yes, you can buy an additional policy if you feel the current policy doesn’t meet your needs. There are several options, but we’ll need to know what your current plan is in order to provide you the appropriate advice.
- Is there an age limit that applies to health insurance?
- Yes, there is, but it depends on the insurer. Most insurers will not accept applications for people whose age is over 65.
- Can my policy be cancelled if I have a high claim?
- Insurers can’t cancel your policy if you have high claim, but they can increase your renewal premium. The maximum increase allowed is 25% of your existing premium. However, this will not apply if you buy health insurance as an add-on with your life insurance policy.
- Is there a deductible option?
- Yes, some insurers do offer deductible options and you’ll earn a discount for applying the deductible.
- Can I choose to buy only Outpatient Coverage?
- No, you can’t choose to buy only Outpatient Coverage. You’ll have to buy Inpatient Coverage first. Then, it’s your choice if you’d like to add outpatient cover.
- Can I buy maternity cover?
- Some insurers offer maternity cover within their plan, some offer it as an add-on, and some don’t offer maternity coverage at all. Please let us know if you would like to have maternity coverage on your policy.
- Can I buy dental cover?
- Most insurers don’t offer dental cover in their individual plan. However, there are certain insurers that offer dental cover. Please ask us if you’re interested in having dental coverage.
- How do I apply for Health Insurance?
- Applying for health insurance is very simple. After you decide on the plan, just complete and send the application to us with a copy of your identification. The underwriter will review your application and if the information is complete, within 7 working days the underwriter will return with the exclusions/conditions that’d be applied to your policy, based on information on your application. If the application is incomplete, the underwriter may request for further information. Then if the terms and conditions are agreed upon, the policy will be issued within 7-10 working day.

This can be used for both Inpatient and Outpatient cases.2.In the event that you don’t have your card with you, you’re out of Thailand, or you receive treatment at a hospital that is not in the insurer’s network, you’ll have to pay for the treatment first. Afterwards, you can send us the original receipt and original doctor certificate. We’ll facilitate your claim for you. You have to make sure both documents are original for the claim to be valid. - What is outpatient cover?
- Outpatient Coverage covers you for a visit to hospital for a diagnosis or treatment and related medication, without overnight hospitalization.
- What is inpatient cover?
- Inpatient Coverage covers the expenses incurred when you’re admitted to the hospital for more than 6 hours. This will include x-rays, tests, surgery, medication, nursing fees, doctor’s fees, etc.
- Why are the quotes so expensive?
- There is a wide range of medical insurance options, from cheaper local policies to full international gold standard plans. We can help you find a plan within your budget.
- Can I buy health insurance when I am older?
- Yes, you can, but keep in mind that the insurer will not cover for your preexisting conditions.
- Am I able to insure my children? I already have insurance through my company.
- Yes, you can insure your children, but standalone policies for children can be quite costly. Please contact us for a quote.
- What is an excess/deductible?
- Excess/deductible is the amount that you’re responsible to pay out of your pocket.

- How many types of motor insurance are available in Thailand?
There are Voluntary Policy and Compulsory Policy. Under Voluntary Policy, you can choose from Type 1, Type 2+, Type 2, Type3+ and Type 3 (from comprehensive to third party).

- Can I have comparisons of premium from more than one insurer?

- What information do I provide to receive quotation?

- If I have no claims over the course of one year, do I qualify for a no-claim discount?
Yes, you start with a 20% no-claim discount rising to up to 50%.
- What is “Cash Before Cover”?
It means you should make payment before the coverage is in effect.
- Why do I need to provide a copy of my passport when taking the policy?
In order to comply with Anti-Money Laundering Law it is obligatory to prove your identity when purchasing an insurance policy.
- How do I claim?
Please contact your insurer’s call centre directly on their claims hotline number. If you encounter any difficulty, please contact us for assistance. We will be happy to help if you need assistance negotiating with your insurer, finding a garage close to your home or with any other issues.

Cancer Insurance
- What is Cancer Insurance?
- Cancer Insurance will pay lump sum amounts to the policy holder when you are diagnosed with cancer, at any stage during the policy period.
- What type of cancer is covered under the policy?
- All types of cancer are included, excluding skin cancer.
- What’s the waiting period?
- The coverage will start after a 90-day waiting period.
- Is there an age limit to apply for Cancer Insurance?
- The policy covers from 1 year old to 55 years old as a new policy holder. Thereafter, the policy is renewable until one is 70 years old.
- Do I need to submit a medical examination report?
- No, you don’t need to submit any medical examination report.
- How do I apply for Cancer Insurance?

Personal Accidental Insurance
- What is Accident Insurance?
- Accident Insurance provides 24-hours worldwide coverage for death, dismemberment and total permanent disability due to accidents. You can choose to expand your policy to cover medical costs incurred from an accident.
- Why do I buy Accident Insurance instead of Life Insurance?
- Accidental Insurance is an annual policy, so you can terminate it anytime you want. Plus, the premium for accidental insurance is much lower than life insurance and it doesn’t rely on your age. Whether you are 50 or 15 years old, your premium will be the same.
- Will I be covered outside of Thailand?
- Yes, policies offer 24 hour worldwide cover.
- Will I be covered while riding motorcycle?
- Accident Insurance can be extended to cover you while you’re riding motorcycles. Please make sure to ask for it when requesting a quote.
- Will I be covered while doing sports such as diving or skiing?
- Adventure sports are normally excluded from Accident Insurance policies, but we can find you cover for these activities you need it. Please make sure to let us know your full cover requirements when requesting quote.
- Is there an age limit to apply for Accident Insurance?
- Accidental Insurance can be applied from 2 weeks old to 70 years old, but for applicant under 15 years old must be applied with parent.

- As accident insurance only covers the cost of treatment for the accident, you definitely need medical insurance to cover medical costs related to illnesses and non-accident related medical expenses.

- If I rent/buy a condo, can I buy coverage for my contents?
Yes, you can buy contents insurance to cover your belongings including furniture, fixtures, fittings, electrical appliances, etc.
- What does home insurance cover?
There are different types of cover from a simple fire policy to an all risks policy which protects against fire, lightning, explosion, water damage, windstorm, earthquake, flood, riot and strike and accidental damage.
- Can I have coverage against third party liability?
Yes, of course and you should ensure you have sufficient third party cover, especially if you live in a condominium or apartment building.
- Can I buy coverage for my valuable items?
Yes, you can. Some insurers can offer coverage for valuable items within and outside your home. You need to give us the details of your valuable items if you’d like to receive a quotation.
